GAME INSTRUCTIONS/ HOW TO PLAY QULA MYSTERY TRAIL
No, you will not receive directions. You have to search for the locations (the inhabitants) yourself. Qula is a quest after all.
Your team's location is indicated by a blue dot on a map in the app. The inhabitants are also on this map (see example in Delft). You have to puzzle yourself how to get from one resident to the other.
Each resident has its own icon. These are the icons that belong to the inhabitants.
You can answer the questions in any order!
No, there is no Qula app in Google Play Store or App Store.
You play the game with a login on the website www.qulatrails.com.
Yes, that's possible. Your login remains valid for 1 year.
Each team has a maximum of 8 people. You appoint a Team Leader for each team. Only the team leader logs in. Choose a team leader who is handy with cards and can read aloud well. The team leader reads the questions and determines the route in consultation with his team.
Each team starts at the same point. After that you can each team determine its own route. The order of the questions doesn't matter. Meet somewhere after 2,5 hours (for example).
No, the starting address is almost always just outside the center. The Finish in the center. This is done so that you can have a nice chat afterwards.

You will not receive a route description (see question 1). You choose a Location that you are going to search. If the odometer runs out, you're running well. If the counter goes up, you're wrong.
Your location is determined by a GPS antenna in your phone (photo). These antennas are sometimes of poor quality and therefore inaccurately transmit your location. This is relatively more common with iPhones.
Yes, and this is very useful! Your team can then better read the questions. You must have Internet on your tablet. You can arrange this by using your phone as a WIFI Hotspot. Search the Internet for how to do this on your phone.

see instruction video how to do this (iPhone, Settings/ Safari, Block Popups)
Now it should work fine!
Then you play for a 'high score'. At the end, your score will be compared with other teams.
The game consists of questions (in red) and 'extras' in blue. In the last blue row it says 'MAP WITH LOCATIONS'.
Use this map to navigate. The locations you need to look for are indicated by letters. There is a little blue ball indicating the location of your team.
How does it work?
1. You choose a resident from the list you are trying to find
2. The icons indicate which icon belongs to which resident (see this image, you can find these icons in the blue tab 'Map with locations').
2. When the odometer runs out, you're running well. If not, you're wrong.
You have to try to find a inhabitants in a city. When you find a resident, you get a riddle. The more difficult the riddle, the more points you can earn. The level of difficulty is indicated by the number of stars on the resident.
Very little, between 5 and 15 MB.
About 30 small photos are loaded and sometimes a small video or gel clip.
An iPhone sometimes has problems with GPS. Then the location of your team will not be accurately determined. If you have the choice, it's better to Qula to play on a phone with Android (LG, Samsung, Motorola...basically all other brands).
Resetting GPS almost always helps, and that's how you do it!
The team leader logs in and reads the questions. But the game shows photos and videos so it's of course super fun if others can watch on their own phone.
It is possible to share your phone's screen with other phones.

Important!
Do not use your own password and city to test. You can no longer log in after that.
Sometimes teams are at the start and the GPS is not working on their phone. They will then receive a notification from our app:
'The geolocation has been denied' (see also image)
Then you can't do the scavenger hunt! You can read how to solve this in questions 7 and 8.
Test if your GPS works with this link:
https://qula-trails.com/maps/fullscreen/73/
Do you see the error message 'The geolocation has been denied'? That is not good!
Of course, do test with the phone you are going to play on.
- Charge your mobile phone 100% before you leave.
- Test your GPS before you go (see below)
- Turn on your phone's sound
- Play on a tablet, then your team members can watch better. Use your mobile as a WIFI Hotspot for this.
